Tips for Sensitive Skin Care

Sensitive skin is not a medical condition but usually related to allergies. While some people are sensitive to certain allergens, others are able to shrug them off. There is a common myth that anyone who comes into contact with poison ivy will get a rash - this is not true. It just so happens that most people are allergic to this shiny woodsy plant. Some people, however, will not get a rash if they touch poison ivy. Getting a few tips on sensitive skin care can be tremendously beneficial if and when you come in contact with any irritant.

While most people may fall prey to poison ivy, most people do not get rashes when they experience different soaps and detergents. There are a few who do however and they are said to have sensitive skin. Sensitive skin care is mostly common sense. Just like most people avoid poison ivy, people with sensitive skin should avoid irritants that will allow their allergens to run amok.

If you get a rash, take note of where the rash is located on your body. If it is in areas where only your clothes touch, it could be the effect of using a different laundry detergent. If it is all over, it could be the effect of a different soap or even a shampoo. Each time you buy a different product that will come into contact with your skin, you should be sure to make note of the name of the product and when you first started using it. This will help you if you break out into a rash. At least you can narrow down the potential reason.

Use laundry detergent that is fragrance free. There is laundry detergent that is sold in your local supermarket that is made for babies. Use this for your laundry. It will get your clothes clean but will also keep your skin feeling good at the same time. There are no irritants or allergens in this detergent.

When using products such as soaps or shampoos, look for products that are natural. You have a better chance of withstanding natural products with sensitive skin than products that are made from synthetic materials. Take a look at organic products that are allergen free for sensitive skin care.

If you are a woman, there is no need to forgo cosmetics just because you have sensitive skin. You can still find cosmetics that are allergen free. You may have to try a few different brands that are made for people with sensitive skin before hitting on the right one, but there are cosmetics out there for you.

If you have sensitive skin, one of the best tips for sensitive skin care is to ease yourself into any new product by testing it on a small portion of your skin prior to using. This can allow you to know whether or not you are allergic to the product. If you get a rash, do not use the product.
