Oily skin can be a real pain to deal with. You will most likely have a bout with oily skin during your teen years when your hormones are fluctuating. As you get older, pimples and breakouts that come with oily skin become less cute. It is bad enough to go through this as a teenager but as an adult it makes you feel like 12 years old perpetually, that too, not in a good way. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways on how to handle oily skin care.
Good skin care for oily skin includes washing your face often, at least twice a day with a good soap. If you are prone to breakouts, use an antibacterial soap that may help control the breakouts. While you do not want to dry your skin out too much, you do want to keep it clean. There are also excellent cleansers out there on the market for people with oily skin.
Use an astringent on your skin after washing. There are many of them out there that can help with oily skin and keep it under control. Apply the astringent after you have washed your face with a clean cotton ball and you will be amazed at the dirt that is left in your pores.
Use an oil free moisturizer. Although you may feel that you do not need a moisturizer because you have oily skin, this is not true. There are some moisturizers that will actually control the oil on your face. You should be able to find plenty of oil free moisturizers that are made especially for oily skin care.
Make sure that you use an exfoliating cream a few times a week. You can find exfoliate masques for oily skin just about everywhere. You can find them online, in your local drugstore or even behind the cosmetic counter. They will give your face a deep cleansing and should be used a few times a week after you have used the astringent.
By washing often with products that are made for oily skin as well as shampoos made for oily hair, you can keep the natural oil secretions under control. Today there are many different products on the market that can help you handle oily skin care. Since oily skin is prone to breakouts, it is essential that you keep your skin clean all of the time and eat proper foods. Practice good hygiene habits as oily skin is not limited to your face.
If the oily skin appears to be out of control, talk to your doctor. He or she may be able to prescribe something that will help you secrete less oil. This can be especially problematic if you are sweating excessively as so many people with oily skin do. With a little practice, you can learn how to handle oily skin care.
