Effective Dry Skin Care

While some people may be happy to have dry skin because they endure fewer breakouts than those with oily skin, dry skin can be a curse. Dry skin care entails proper moisturizing from the inside out.

One of the first things you should do is to drink plenty of water. Drinking water is good for all types of skin but even more so for dry skin as it can keep your skin properly hydrated. Make sure that you drink eight glasses of water a day to keep your skin healthier and give you a glow.

Use products for dry skin care. Fortunately, there are moisturizers on the market that are made for dry skin only. Use these to give your skin as much external moisture as possible. You should make sure that you use a moisturizer after your shower in the morning and again at night to keep your skin feeling soft. If your skin is sensitive, you should use an unscented moisturizer.

Speaking of scent, if you have dry skin, use a scented moisturizer instead of perfume. Perfume and cologne contain alcohol that can make the skin even drier. Instead, why not moisturize with perfumed moisturizer? You will feel fresh and your skin will also feel smooth.

Make sure that you use a dandruff shampoo. If you have dry skin, chances are that the skin on your scalp is probably also dry. Use a good dandruff shampoo to keep your hair healthy and shiny. Dry skin often affects the hair and fingernails so in addition to using a dandruff shampoo for your hair, make sure that you get plenty of vitamin E in your diet. You might want to even take a supplement.

Use petroleum jelly on your feet for softer feet. If you have dry skin, chances are that your feet also get dry and cracked. If so, try this tip and put petroleum jelly on your feet before bed and then cover them with cotton socks. In the morning, your feet will look and feel good.

Make sure that your cosmetics are for those with dry skin. You will want to use cosmetics that are specially made for dry skin so that they do not dry your skin out even more. Since dry skin is often also sensitive skin, you will want to also test out the cosmetics before buying them to make sure that you do not have an allergic reaction to them.

People with dry skin often are very fair skinned with freckles. This means more of a chance for skin cancer. Everyone should wear sunscreen when out in the sun but people with dry skin that is fair and freckly should be extra careful as they have a greater risk for skin cancer.

For effective dry skin care, remember to keep your skin moisturized and hydrated from the inside as well. There are plenty of products on the market that can cater to your needs for dry skin care.
